However, some people are born with special abilities called "skills". Some of these skills are things like having an incredibly high IQ or being able to run faster than anyone else in your family. The skills run in famalies and many of the characters in the show have the same skills as their parents, grandparents, etc. The 100 are a group of kids who were sent away from Earth so they could survive on an island. The Ark is the name of the ship that sent them to Earth so they'd be safe. They never made it back to Earth though because an artificial electromagnetic pulse came before they could return.
